Generic Infrastructure for Documents
Dutch municipalities took the initiative in developing a Generic Infrastructure Document issuing System (GIDS).
IDManagement Centre was responsible for a feasibility study on a generic infrastructure for ID documents. This study showed that the use of GIDS increases the efficiency, quality, security and integrity of the application process, but not its cost. GIDS is supplier independent and can be introduced in phases. An advantage of GIDS is that it facilitates the work of application services because all documents can be applied for through the same infrastructure.
