ID.academy trains Identity Coordinators for the Dutch police
The police are invested with the responsibility to correctly identify and record persons suspected of committing a punishable offence.
A proper administration of justice is founded on the integrity of the information in the criminal justice chain, such as the identity data of suspects and offenders. It is therefore quite logical for the police to invest in the process of identifying persons and ensuring a correct registration of personal data.
The Dutch police is organised into 25 regions and has a number of specialised units. The National staff for the support of the aliens police is one of the specialised units which focuses mainly on foreign nationals and the identification of suspects.
ID.academy’s expertise in identity infrastructure is the reason why the Aliens Police Support Service requested ID.academy to develop and facilitate a training programme aimed at professionalization of the identification process used by the Dutch police. The course members are Identity Coordinators, a new job within the police.
The developed training course consists of the following modules:
- Master Class on Identity Management
- Working in the chain: know your chain partners
- Innovation and technical possibilities and developments in the identity field
- International aspects of identity management
- Observing problems in the identity field and advising on these
Important subjects that receive ample attention in the training programme include: reducing the risks of identity fraud, the further development of electronic identification, recording and using biometrics, and improvements to the integrity of identity information.
The course lecturers are professionals who are knowledgeable about the problems facing today’s police. Besides ID.academy’s own trainers, lecturers are drawn from the academic community, the public prosecution service and private enterprise.
