Biometric passport
Published: Monday 03 October 2005
A new passport that includes biometrics calls for an entirely new passport scheme. A biometric passport not only affects the document itself, but also the issuing and verification processes and the IT infrastructure.
The introduction of a new passport starts with the making of fundamental choices, which are laid down in a procurement document. These choices have a major impact on all aspects of the existing passport scheme as well as on the method of working of the people involved.
Based on the experiences of IDManagement Centre, a team of experts are already involved in the development and implementation of a new biometric passport scheme in a member state of the European Union.
